Thanks for sharing this Emma! I am so excited for you on your writing retreat, can't wait to hear more. And that course about therapy is such a good idea! I've also been having the same thoughts about my career future, but felt scared to write about it incase everyone instantly thought I was not committed to design and stopped wanting to work with me! Irrational I know. Maybe I'll write about my own career experiments in coaching and painting!
Yeah I had similar thoughts but I don't think this means I'm any less committed to design. I would imagine doing two things in parallel for a long while yet. We're all allowed to want to do more than one thing eh. Defo write about it!
I relate to this a lot! I’m going to be 40 in about 15 months. I’m also a freelancer (content marketer and writer) and I often wonder if I want to do this for the next 20-25 year. I might! But I also like the idea of teaching people how to do it and helping them grow. I’m exploring this idea (among a few others) with my newsletter. Thanks for sharing your career experiments! 🧪😻
I didn’t know there were courses to see if therapy is a career choice you want to go for. What a fabulous way idea. My friend is training to become a therapist and she’s loving it. It can also fit in part-time around work as well. Look forward to hearing how you get on Emma. Also I really like the idea of career experiments. You’ve certainly given me something to noodle on there..
Hey Emma! I remember when you tweeted that you were starting Joy. You have been on quite the journey and I really admire the experimentation that you are doing!

No worries at all. Glad you relate. I do think it’s quite common at this age. Good luck with yours.

Aww I think it's pretty rare tbh. Hence signing up! And thank you. Glad I provided some inspiration. I think framing them as experiments feels nice.
